Ghost Donkey serves up Spell-binding Ambiance and Agave Cocktails

Ghost Donkey, originally founded by Avroko Hospitality Group is everything I love about Mexico. Vibrant colors, lively music, great food made with simple ingredients, and well-balanced agave cocktails.
The draw isn’t just the spellbinding color-changing lights on the ceiling or the upbeat sounds of Reggae-Ton and Cumbia…
It’s the tequila and mezcal cocktails that range from very solid and approachable margaritas to unique concoctions such as the Mushroom Margarita (made with a type of corn fungus that is a delicacy in Mexico, called huitlacoche).
Ghost Donkey originally opened in New York, to much fanfare, and won the esteemed “Cocktail Bar of the Year” in 2020 from Imbibe Magazine.
If you are hungry, their specialty is nachos. Ranging from mole chicken to truffle, and created by Michelin-starred chef Brad Farmerie.
Happy Hour, or ‘Burr-acho Hour’, is Sun-Thurs from 4-6, and Reverse HH is 10p-close. Perfect opportunity to sample their house margaritas or the frozen ‘Stealth’ margarita, Mezcalitos, or a Mezcal Old Fashioned for $7-$8. The wild mushroom and mole chicken nachos are also on the HH menu for $8. Don’t miss the Guacamole and Chips, with additional salsas provided on the side.
